The Great Summer Movie Bet 2010

Back by popular demand, it's The Great Summer Movie Bet 2010 in IMAX 3D!

Will Iron Man 2 run away with the summer before it even starts, or will this be Pixar's year to take the top spot? Will there be a list-destroying left field hit a' la The Hangover? Can anyone win money at this thing besides my sister?

It promises to be an interesting summer with the advent of the 3D era. Films that probably had less of a shot are all of a sudden contenders, so adjust your lists accordingly. Also, there's a Twilight movie this summer, so don't underestimate the power of sparkly vampires!

Lists due on May 7th

Money due on May 30th

Rules and a list of releases below.

If there's anyone I left off the email that you think would like to participate please feel free to forward this along. The more people we have the more money Nell wins in September. She has a new puppy! Dagmar's gotta eat!

The Rules (2010)

*Rules:*

You must come up with a list of what you think will be the top 10 Domestic grossing movies of the summmer, plus 3 wild card picks.

To be eligible for the list the film must be released between May 7th and August 31st (List of films below.) We'll cut the grosses off on September 20 so the later August releases have a fair shake. Yes, movies released in August have lees of a chance for big grosses, but that's part of the strategy. Just think- The Dark Knight was released 2 months after Iron Man, yet is ended up grossing $200 million more.

Lists have to be emailed to me (eeriepa @ gmail.com remove the spaces before and after the "@") by Friday, May 7th. If you are not familiar with some of the movies then go check out the trailer- http://www.apple.com/trailers/ From here on out all activity (including all the lists) for the GSB will be on the blog- http://greatsummermoviebet.blogspot.com

*Entry Fee:*

$20 gets you into the game. You can give me the money in person, or send it through Paypal to: subscriptions @ eeriepa.net (Remove the spaces before and after the "@"). Last year I was a terrible toll collector, and some people were not very forthcoming with the money, so your entry fee must in by May 30th, or your list will be discarded!

*The Scoring:*

Getting number 1 or number 10 dead-on gets you 13 points (each).

The rest of the scoring goes like this:

10 points for numbers 2-9 dead-on
7 points if your pick was only one spot away from where it ended up
5 points if it was two spots away
3 points if your pick is anywhere in the Top 10
1 point for each dark horse that makes it into the Top 10

The scoring is tabulated so that you get the SINGLE HIGHEST point value for each pick- that is, if you get number ten right, you don't get 13+3, you only get 13.
